Miles of Fence Installed
noland tough fence company history
No job is too rough or remoteThe Lord gave Crystal an inspired thought to start the business in late 2007, as a grant writer she was awarded a grant for a fence and water project on their ranch in Eagle Creek, AZ. She realized there were many more neighbors who were awarded the same grant as well and needed rough and remote barbed wire fences built. Crystal had the business family background and her husband Cash was the 4-generation rancher who knew the workings of fence and packing livestock, together the business was birthed.

The business was located near the second largest copper mine in the world at the time Morenci Freeport McMoran Mine, there was a need to contract work for chain-link and wood fences and we expanded our scope of construction. In 2009 we applied and won our first IDIQ contract with the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest this was before the Wallow Fire hit and burned 500,000 acres. We had the right contract at the right time and this caused another expansion of our business and our scope of work increased to include tree felling. In the following years we used our experience with ranching to add livestock watering systems, spring box construction, well drilling, solar install, laying HDPE pipe, packing and fabricating to our services. At one point we were awarded an IDIQ on every forest in AZ and NM, we also had a water system IDIQ.
We have worked for homeowners, business owners, ranchers, farmers, government agencies, associations, foundations, but we are mainly a commercial contractor working large scale projects. The landscape of most of our project is National Forested lands from the border of Nogales to the state line of Utah near Freedonia and all the way east to Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, and El Rito in New Mexico.
And for all of this we give glory and honor to the Lord Jesus!
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17
We became DBA Noland Tough, because we weren’t just a fence business anymore, we were essentially all things ranch. We have many successful contracts under our belt and have worked with many Forest Service contracting officers, contracting officer representatives and range staff. With the number of devastating fires in the last decade in Arizona all the reconstruction kept us busy rebuilding structures burned up in those fires.
Once more NT increased their scope of work to include herbicide treatment. We were asked to bid on work on the Santa Catalina RD, Sabino Canyon area to spray invasive plants like buffel and foundation grass on the National Park areas. This type of work is very challenging spraying with heavy packs on 90-degree canyons in the middle of the summer heat. Over the years we have been stretched to the limit, pushed to the edge and we have become stronger more able because of it.
We find it a blessing and privilege to have had so much work in so many places. We have become contractors that are called upon in emergency situations for high profile fences such as out of control prescribed burns and law suits. We have made the national news twice, been threatened and by filmed by opposers. But we just keep going, we just keep building, we just do what we are supposed to do!
From our inception we have hired local natives as our “Tough Crew” we have had our ups and downs with them but they have been faithful and hardworking. We pride ourselves in having a true All American Fence company! From our materials, to our workers and owners. We are the true American Fence!
